Turkey Run Mennonite Church Covenant of Membership
Realizing my guilt before God, I have confessed my sins to Him, and received the Lord Jesus Christ, who bore my sins on the cross, as my personal Savior, and I acknowledge Him as Lord of all my life.
I accept the Bible as the inspired Word of God, and my final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
I trust in the power of the Holy Spirit, Who lives in my heart, to keep me, guide me, and lead me in the way of purity and holiness.
I willingly have submitted to water baptism as a symbol of identification with Him, and as a symbol of being baptized into His body.
I will spend time regularly in Bible-reading, prayer, and reflection concerning my personal life, relationships, attitudes, and speech as measured by the example and teaching of Jesus.
I recognize my responsibility to be regular in my attendance at the services of the church and to pray regularly for the work of this church, for its pastors, elders, and members, that the witness of all may be to the glory of God and to the salvation of souls.
I recognize all our earthly goods are a trust from the Lord. I will seek to avoid excess in my standard of living, help others in need, and give to the work of the Lord a tithe or more.
I will work to avoid over-extension of myself in the daily activities of life, to have time to give to the life of the church. This will include sharing my gifts and volunteering my abilities and services, practicing hospitality to all.
I accept singleness, marriage and children as gifts from God. I believe marriage is permanent, and accept God’s order for families, and male/female roles.
I will attempt to be a peacemaker in all areas of life. I commit myself to reconciliation in situations of strife and misunderstanding.
I recognize the congregation as a community of God’s people, and will seek to care for the spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of each one as I have opportunity.
I will be accountable to the congregation, and those God places in leadership.
